Free Penelopig Crochet Pattern


Materials:
1 oz. pink worsted weight yarn
Small amounts green and black worsted weight yarn
Pair of small wiggle eyes
Fiberfill for stuffing
Size 00/2.7mm steel crochet hook

Size: Pig measures about 3 1/4" long, including tail

Notes: Do not join rnds unless otherwise stated. Mark last st of each rnd w st marker. Work sc dec over the front loops only of next 2 scs.

Pig Body:

Rnd 1: With pink, starting at tail end, form magic ring, ch 1, 5 sc in ring (5 sc).

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around, pull beg magic ring closed (10 sc).

Rnd 3: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around (15 sc).

Rnd 4: * Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around (20 sc).

Rnd 5: * Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around (25 sc).

Rnd 6: * Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around (30 sc).

Snout:

Rnd 1: With pink, form magic ring, ch 1, 8 sc in ring (8 sc).

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around, join w sl st in 1st sc, pull beg magic ring closed, fo (16 sc).

With black, make 2 small running sts on snout and sew snout to open end of body, adding more stuffing if necessary before closing.

Ears (make 2):

With pink, ch 4, join w sl st in 1st ch, fo. Sew ears to head as shown.

Tail:

With pink, ch 10, fo leaving a long tail end for sewing. Pull beg yarn tail tight and clip close to chain. Use long end to attach tail to beg magic ring of body behind pig. Curl tail around finger.

Hair:

Push one 6" length of pink yarn up through bottom of pig to center of ears until piece of yarn is even with top of ears. Using yarn needle, gently separate strands of yarn to form hair. Clip loose end of yarn at bottom of pig or stuff up into body.

Glue wiggle eyes to pig in front of ears as shown.

Lettuce:

With green, ch 4, sl st in 4th ch from hk, (ch 3, sl st in same ch as last sl st) 3 times, fo to form 4 leaves. Work a French knot through center of leaves, wrapping yarn 3 times around the needle to form your knot.

Weave in any loose ends.

Free Bright Blossom Crochet Pattern




 


This is a work-in-progress. I think it's going to be a blanket for my daughter's bunk bed. I'm doing it in bright rainbow colors...you may want to choose more toned-down colors for your own blossoms! Here's the basic flower pattern and joining instructions so you can create your own masterpieces!

Materials for One Flower:
Small amounts worsted weight yarn in yellow and contrasting color (CC)
Size H crochet hook

Size: 4" in diameter

Rnd 1: With yellow, ch 4, join w sl st in 1st ch to form ring, 12 sc in ring, join w sl st in 1st sc (12 sc).

Rnd 2: Ch 3, (work 1st half of one dc in same sc) 3 times, yo and draw yarn through all 4 loops on hk, * ch 4, sk 1sc, (work first half of one dc) 3 times in next sc, yo and draw yarn through all 4 loops  on hk,  rep from * around, ending w ch 4, sk last sc, join w sl st in top of beg ch 3, fo (6 clusters plus 6 ch 4 sp).

Rnd 3: Join CC w sc in ch 4 sp before joining sl st of Rnd 2, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc, sc) in same ch 4 loop, * in next ch 4 loop work (sc, 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc, sc) rep from * around, join w sl st in 1st sc, fo (6 petals).

Joining motifs together:
To join motifs together, make 1 complete motif, then next motifs as follows:

Rnds 1-2: Work same as Rnd 1 of completed motif.

Rnd 3: Join CC w sc in ch 4 sp before joining sl st of Rnd 2, (2 dc, ch 2  in same sp), holding motifs wrong sides together, sl st in any ch 3 sp of completed motif, ch 2, (2 dc, sc) in same in same ch 4 sp of working motif, in next ch 4 sp, (sc, 2 dc, ch 2), sl st in next ch 3 sp of finished motif, ch 2, (2 dc, sc) in same ch 4 sp of working motif, (sc, 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc, sc) in each of next ch 4 loops of working motif, join w sl st in 1st sc, fo. When joining motifs at more than 2 petals, join them using the (sc, 2 dc, ch 2) in ch 4 sp of working motif, sl st in corresponding ch 3 sp of completed motif, then (ch 2, 2 dc, sc) in same ch 4 sp of working motif method. When joining at petal intersections ch 2, sl st beneath joined petals rather than through the ch 3 sp, ch 2 and finish working motif petal, fo.

Rnd 3: Sl st into 1st ch 3 sp, (ch 1, 4 dc, ch 1, sl st) in same ch 3 sp, *in next ch 3 loop (sl st, ch 1, 4 dc, ch 1, sl st), rep from * 4 times, join w sl st just below beg sl st (5 petals).

Rnd 4: *Ch 4, sl st around next sl st post of Rnd 3 below (sl st will show on front of work), rep from * 3 times, ch 4, join w sl st in beg sl st (5 ch 4 loops).

Free Scented Bookmark Crochet Pattern


This bookmark is crocheted with a lavender-scented cotton yarn (which smells delightful!). You can crochet the bookmark all in one color or add a different color edging.

Materials:
Small amount 100% cotton Peaches&Creme Scents worsted weight yarn in Lavender Sachet
Optional: For a different color edging, you'll need a small amount of 100% cotton Peaches&Creme worsted weight yarn in White
Size H crochet hook

Size: 7 1/2" long

Row 1: With Lavender, ch 24, dc in 4th ch from hk and in each ch across (22 dc), if continuing with Lavender, sc around post of top dc (working across the top of bookmark)...if working edging with White, fo Lavender and join White with sc around post of top dc (working across the top of bookmark).

Free Floral Bookmark Crochet Pattern


Materials:
Small amounts worsted weight yarn in various colors
Size H crochet hook

Size: 8" long

First Flower
Rnd 1: Ch 4, join w sl st in 1st ch to form ring, ch 1, 8 sc in ring, join w sl st in 1st sc (8 sc).

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same sc, (ch 3, sc in next sc) 7 times, ch 3, join w sl st in 1st sc, fo (8 sc plus 8 ch 3 sp).

Second Flower
Rnd 1: Using different color yarn, work same as Rnd 1 in First Flower (8 sc).

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same sc, ch 1, holding motifs wrong sides together, sl st in any ch 3 loop of finished motif, ch 1, sc in next sc of working motif, ch 1, sl st in next unworked ch 3 loop of finished motif, ch 1, sc in next sc of working motif, (ch 3, sc in next sc of working motif) 5 times, ch 3, join w sl st in 1st sc, fo (8 sc plus 8 chained petals ).

Third-Fifth Flowers
Using different color yarn, repeat as for Second Flower, joining motifs in the two top petals, leaving two free petals at each side of flower. With wrong sides together, you'll join in the top right petal of finished motif first, followed by the petal just to its left.

Tip: When working this project, keep a size smaller and a size larger hook (G and I) beside you. If a flower looks too big or too small just go up or down a hook size to make the flower more uniform in size. This is especially helpful if you're working with different brands/weights of yarn.

Free Yarn Cross Crochet Pattern


Materials:
Small amount worsted weight yarn
Size H crochet hook

Size: 5 1/2" long x 4" wide

Rnd 1: Ch 5, join w sl st in 1st ch to form ring, ch 3, 2 dc in ring, (ch 3, 3 dc in ring) 3 times, ch 3, join w sl st in top of beg ch 3, fo (12 dc plus 4 ch 3 sp).

Top of Cross
Hold piece so that a ch 3 sp is on top, join yarn w sl st in that ch 3 sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc in same sp, fo.

Bottom of Cross
Turn work upside down and join yarn w sl st in opposite sp of the point you just worked the top in, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc in same ch 3 sp, fo. *Join yarn w sl st in last ch 3 sp made, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc in same sp, fo, rep from * once more.

Sides of Cross: Join yarn w sl st in ch 3 sp at either side of cross, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc in same sp, fo. Rep for opposite side.

Free Floral Hexagon Motif Crochet Pattern


Materials:
Small amount Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn in White
Small amount Caron Simply Soft worsted weight yarn in Watermelon
Size H crochet hook

Size: 4" x 5"

Rnd 1: With Watermelon, ch 3, join w sl st in 1st ch to form ring, ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join w sl st in top of beg ch 3 (12 dc).

Rnd 2: 5 dc in next dc, * sl st in next dc, 5 dc in next dc, rep from * around, join w sl st in same sp as beg sl st, fo (6 petals).

Rnd 3: Join White w sl st in 3rd dc of any petal, * ch 5, sl st in 3rd dc of next petal, rep from * around, joining w sl st in same sp as beg sl st (6 ch 5 loops).

Rnd 4: Ch 3, work (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch 5 loop, * dc in next sl st, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch 5 loop, rep from * around, joining w sl st in top of beg ch 3, fo (42 dc plus 6 ch 3 loops).

Free Lemon Creme Square Crochet Pattern


Materials:
1/2 oz. white worsted weight yarn
1/2 oz. yellow worsted weight yarn
Crochet hooks sizes G and I
Gauge: 4 rows sc=1"
Size: 5" square

Row 1: With yellow and size G hook, ch 16, switch to size I hook, sc in 2nd ch from hk and in each ch across, changing to white in end of last sc, do not fasten off yellow (15 sc).

Row 2: Ch1, turn, pull up yellow yarn and work 1st sc stitch over it, sc in each sc across, carrying the yellow yarn along and working white sc sts over it, changing to yellow in end of last sc, do not fasten off white (15 sc).

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, pull up white yarn and work 1st sc stitch over it, sc in each sc across, carrying the white yarn along and working yellow sc sts over it, changing to white in end of last sc, do not fasten off yellow (15 sc).

Rows 4-15: Rep Rows 2 and 3 6 times. At end of Row 15, don't change to white but finish last sc with yellow and fo yellow but not white yarn (15 sc).

Edging: Pull white yarn from back to front through end of Row 14, ch 2, work 13 hdc evenly spaced along left hand side of square, work 3 hdc in 1st free loop of beg ch of Row 1, hdc in each of next 13 free loops, 3 hdc in next free loop, work 14 hdc evenly spaced along next side, work 3 hdc in 1st sc of Row 15, hdc in each of next 13 sc, 3 hdc in last sc, join w sl st in 2nd ch of beg ch 2, fo (66 hdc).
